Strategy
Ramp into a wall of fat, trampling green threats and let The Earth King convert every power-4 swing into a free pile of lands. The King makes a 4/4 Bear on ETB, then whenever one or more power-4-or-greater creatures attack, you search out that many basic lands tapped — so the deck snowballs from a single big attacker into double-digit mana, then dumps haymakers. The engine is earthbend: Badgermole Cub, Toph, Badgermole, The Boulder, Earthbender Ascension, Earthbending Lesson, Earth Rumble and Ba Sing Se all turn lands into hasty 0/0 land-creatures stacked with +1/+1 counters — each is simultaneously ramp, an extra body, and (once it carries 4+ counters) another power-4 attacker to feed the King. Badgermole Cub is the keystone two-drop: earthbend 1 plus an extra {G} every time you tap a creature for mana. Cheap dorks (Llanowar Elves, Druid of the Cowl, Goobbue Gardener, Raucous Audience) and Rampant Growth / Solemn Simulacrum deploy threats a turn early. Garruk’s Uprising, Badgermole and Earthbender Ascension blanket the team in trample so nothing chumps; fight-style removal (Earth Rumble, Plow Through, Chelonian Tackle, Felling Blow, Affectionate Indrik) uses the oversized bodies to clear blockers. Top end — Mossborn Hydra, Rampaging Baloths, Quilled Greatwurm, Sire of Seven Deaths — closes once the King’s ramp has flooded the board.
Upgrade path
All rares/mythics are OWNED — zero crafted rares, per discipline. Owned mythics run as 1-ofs like any singleton: Badgermole Cub (a premier earthbend ramp engine that was undervalued when text was truncated), Quilled Greatwurm, Sire of Seven Deaths, plus owned-mythic Toph. Owned rares: Mossborn Hydra, Rampaging Baloths, Solemn Simulacrum, Earthbender Ascension, and rare lands Ba Sing Se / Three Tree City. No approved shock for mono-color, so the manabase is owned utility lands + Forests. Refinement pass over the prior build: re-reading with full card text revealed how much the deck under-weighted earthbend — added Badgermole Cub (2-mana ramp engine), The Boulder (earthbend-X-on-attack payoff), Earthbender Ascension (ramp + trample anthem), Earthbending Lesson (instant power-4 land body), Case of the Trampled Garden (cheap counters + attack trample), Studious First-Year // Rampant Growth (1-drop body that’s also ramp), and Felling Blow (counter + fight removal). Cut the lowest-impact filler that didn’t feed the King: Noxious Newt, Mistmeadow Council, Trade Route Envoy, Colossadactyl, Rancorous Archaic (converge is dead mono-color), and Moon-Vigil Adherents. Counts verified by the gate: commander + 59 (25 lands), 0 wildcards. Held back: a premium untapped fixer and a Nissa-tier walker would push higher, but neither is owned in-color.
