Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, you gain 1 life and draw a card.
That’s the whole engine, printed exactly as the scout described it. Every land that enters under your control — your natural drop, a fetchland’s payoff, an extra land off Growth Spiral, a Farhaven Elf trigger — is “gain 1 life, draw a card.” The deck is built to maximize the number of lands that enter per turn, not just the number you draw, because each entry is a separate Tatyova trigger. commander_oracle_ok = true.
Gameplan
Slow, reactive Simic value. Survive the early turns with cheap interaction and blockers, deploy Tatyova on turn 5, then bury the table in cards. Every extra-land effect becomes a cantrip-plus-lifegain once she’s down, so a single Growth Spiral or Farhaven Elf snowballs into a runaway advantage. You are not racing — you grind until your hand and board dwarf everyone else’s, then close with evasive flyers and trampling fatties.
Inevitability plan (this is a control deck, so it needs one): card-advantage lock. Tatyova + the extra-land package out-draws three opponents combined; the lifegain on every trigger buys the time. The win is a critical mass of evasive value creatures (Mulldrifter, Windrider Eel, Wave-Wing Elemental, Sky-Eel School, Quicksilver Fisher, Gryff Vanguard) that you’ve drawn into while opponents run out of gas. Mill is intentionally NOT the wincon — the commons pool has no real mill payoff, so we lean on flyers + inevitability instead.
Key synergy lines
- Extra land drops are the core. Growth Spiral, Explore, Eureka Moment, Walking Atlas, Sakura-Tribe Scout, Khalni Heart Expedition and Scaretiller each put an additional land onto the battlefield. With Tatyova out, each is an extra “draw + 1 life” on top of its own text.
- Fetch/ramp that lands a land = a trigger. Farhaven Elf, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse all put a land onto the battlefield, triggering Tatyova once each.
- Landfall payoffs double-dip. Snapping Gnarlid, Territorial Scythecat, Windrider Eel and Wave-Wing Elemental grow every time a land enters — so an extra-land turn pumps a flyer AND draws you cards. Grazing Gladehart + Jaddi Offshoot turn the same triggers into a life cushion against aggro.
- Replacement-effect interaction. Into the Roil, Blink of an Eye and Repeal-style bounce all replace themselves, so you never lose a card answering a threat. Counterspells (Negate, Essence Scatter, Miscalculation, Scatter Arc) hold the line on the stack.
- Snake Umbra / Sea Gate Oracle / Mulldrifter keep the card flow up even in the games Tatyova gets removed.

- Ramp: 10 — Arboreal Grazer, Growth Spiral, Explore, Sakura-Tribe Scout, Walking Atlas, Khalni Heart Expedition, Farhaven Elf, Scaretiller, Elvish Mystic, Llanowar Elves. (Most also are Tatyova triggers — deliberately not over-ramping past 10.)

- Payoffs / finishers / glue: rest — landfall flyers and fatties, value bodies, Abundant Growth (fixing + cantrip), Wall of Roots (defense + ramp), Wose Pathfinder.
Pilot notes
- Mulligan toward at least one ramp piece and lands. You want Tatyova online by turn 5 and an extra-land effect to fire with her.
- Sequence so land drops happen after Tatyova resolves. Hold Growth Spiral / Explore for the turn she’s down.
- Walking Atlas, Sakura-Tribe Scout and Scaretiller let you drop a land at instant speed / repeatedly — each one is a per-turn Tatyova trigger engine. Prioritize keeping them alive.
- Bounce is your removal and your tempo. Save Into the Roil / Blink of an Eye to undo problematic ETBs or reset a kicked threat while drawing.
- Don’t be greedy holding counters — you have plenty of card flow, so trade counters for the scariest spells and rebuild.
Weaknesses
- No board wipe. A wide aggro start can outpace you before the lifegain stabilizes; lean on Grazing Gladehart, Jaddi Offshoot and chump blockers early.
- Tatyova-dependent. Without her the deck still draws, but loses its runaway gear. Protect her with bounce/counters and rebuild via the ETB-draw bodies.
- Reach/flyers heavy meta can race your ground board, though most of our finishers fly too.
