Strategy
Fire Lord Azula — Grixis Spell-Copy Aggro-Storm (Bracket 4)
Core loop: Suit up Azula with haste + protection (Lightning Greaves / Swiftfoot Boots) and evasion (Rogue’s Passage, Whispersilk Cloak), then swing. Firebending 2 adds {R}{R} on attack, and while she’s attacking she copies every spell you cast. Dump rituals, cantrips, removal, and X-burn into the combat step; each spell resolves twice.
Key win lines:
- Copied X-burn (primary, on-theme): Azula attacking → cast Fireball / Banefire / Crackle with Power / Torment of Hailfire → her copy doubles it. Twinning Staff turns her one copy into two (triple output). Cost reducers + medallions + rituals fund a lethal X.
- Deterministic mana → lethal (new): Reiterate with buyback, copying a ritual (Seething Song / Dark Ritual / Pyretic Ritual) while you control any one Medallion or Goblin Electromancer/Baral, loops into effectively infinite mana → arbitrarily large Banefire/Fireball. This is the compact kill the pile was missing.
- Storm finish (resilient): Grapeshot copied by Azula + a chain of cheap rituals/cantrips; Underworld Breach rebuilds the storm from the graveyard after a wipe by recasting rituals and Grapeshot.
- Non-combat backup (new): Aetherflux Reservoir pays off the same high cast-count chain — “pay 50 life: 50 damage” wins even if Azula never connects, closing the 100%-combat-gated hole.
Engine multipliers that actually work with copies: Storm-Kiln Artist and Archmage Emeritus trigger on cast or copy (true doublers with Azula). Ral, Storm Conduit pings on cast and copy and is itself a copy engine. Harmonic Prodigy doubles every Shaman/Wizard trigger (Storm-Kiln treasures, Archmage draws, Baral/Electromancer, Ral). Draw stays online via Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, wheels, and cheap cantrips; heavy tutor suite finds the payoff.
Defense: Free counters (Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, Force of Negation, Flusterstorm) protect the tapped-out attack turn; Faerie Macabre answers Breach/Thoracle/reanimator graveyards for free; Toxic Deluge / Cyclonic Rift reset the board.
