Strategy
Assemble Exquisite Blood + any one of the three ‘gain life → opponent loses life’ payoffs (Vito is your commander, so half the combo is always available), then kick it with a single point of lifegain to drain the whole table. Mono-black’s job is to FIND and PROTECT that line: the deepest tutor suite in the format (Demonic/Vampiric/Imperial Seal/Grim/Beseech/Mastermind + Wishclaw/Dark Petition/Profane) points at Exquisite Blood, while a dense proactive-disruption shell (Thoughtseize, Inquisition, Duress, Collective Brutality, Grief, Cabal Therapy, Praetor’s Grasp) strips opposing interaction BEFORE you go off, since mono-black can’t hold up counters. Imp’s Mischief redirects a counter/removal aimed at your linchpin; Defense Grid taxes their instant-speed answers; Deadly Rollick and Snuff Out are free removal for the go-off turn. Fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Vault, moxen, Dark/Cabal Ritual, Ancient Tomb/City of Traitors) powers the turn-3-4 line; Ad Nauseam / Necropotence / Bolas’s Citadel refuel it; K’rrik + Cabal Coffers + Urborg + Nykthos build the mana for an Exsanguinate/Torment finish. Erebos adds card advantage, indestructibility, AND shuts off opponents’ lifegain so no one can fog the drains. A lean Blood Artist / aristocrat sub-theme gives a resilient loop-starter and an incidental-drain floor if Exquisite Blood is answered.
