Strategy
Sisay, Weatherlight Captain — 5c Paradox Stax-Combo (cEDH)
Gameplan. Explode onto fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Vault, moxen, Lotus Petal, green dorks) and either combo out early or drop Sisay to grind a legendary toolbox lock. Sisay taps to tutor any legendary permanent with MV ≤ her power (which grows per legend on the field) directly onto the battlefield — so she is a repeatable, uncounterable engine that assembles hatebears (Drannith Magistrate, Collector-style taxers, Aven Mindcensor), stax planeswalkers (Teferi Time Raveler, Karn), and, crucially, her own combo pieces.
Primary win (compact 2-card). Demonic Consultation or Tainted Pact names a nonexistent card / exiles the library, then Thassa’s Oracle or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries wins with an empty library. Jace is the harden-pass add: it is a legendary payoff, so Sisay herself can tutor the finisher onto the battlefield — the commander can now assemble her own primary line, not just the backup.
Backup win (Sisay-native infinite mana). Teferi, Temporal Archmage (ult gives 0-loyalty ults / untaps lands) + The Chain Veil = infinite activations and infinite mana; sink into Walking Ballista for lethal, or loop Teferi’s -1 to draw the deck into Thassa’s Oracle. Both Teferi and Chain Veil are legendary and directly Sisay-tutorable — this is the line that makes Sisay a genuine cEDH commander rather than a value pile.
The lock. Grand Arbiter + Drannith + Teferi TR + Narset + Opposition Agent + Aven Mindcensor + Collector Ouphe-style tax (Karn’s static shutting off opposing artifact mana) chokes fast-mana pods while you protect the combo with 7 free counters (FoW, Force of Negation, Fierce Guardianship, Pact, Flusterstorm, Mental Misstep, Deflecting Swat) plus Swan Song / Offer / Dovin’s Veto.
Key sequencing. Land + fast mana → Sisay (or a T2-3 protected Consultation-Thoracle) → tutor the missing half / a tax piece → hold up a free counter. Sylvan Library, Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, Necropotence, Esper Sentinel and The One Ring refuel the protected combo turn if the race goes long.
