Strategy
Magda, Brazen Outlaw — Mono-Red Dwarf/Artifact Treasure Combo (cEDH)
Core plan. Ramp explosively on fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Grim Monolith, the Mox suite, Lotus Petal, LED, and the ritual package) to deploy Magda early, then assemble a self-contained artifact combo that Magda herself tutors piece by piece (Sacrifice five Treasures: put any artifact or Dragon from library onto the battlefield).
The primary infinite (fully Magda-fetchable, all artifacts):
- Liquimetal Torque/Coating makes Magda an artifact.
- Clock of Omens (“Tap two untapped artifacts: untap target artifact”) taps Magda + one other artifact, then untaps Magda. Each time Magda becomes tapped, she makes a Treasure.
- Academy Manufactor turns every “create a Treasure” into Clue + Food + Treasure. Feed Clock’s second tap with the Clue/Food (not the Treasure), so every cycle nets +1 Treasure. This is Treasure-positive → infinite Treasures → infinite mana, and infinite artifact ETBs.
- Xorn (if in play) makes the line Treasure-positive without the Clue-feed trick, but Xorn is a creature Magda cannot tutor — treat it as a bonus, not a required piece.
Closing the turn. With infinite mana + infinite Treasures:
- Walking Ballista (colorless artifact creature, Magda-fetchable): pump with infinite mana, remove counters to ping the whole table dead — the same-turn, fully-fetchable kill.
- Reckless Fireweaver (backup, in play): infinite artifact ETBs = infinite damage even without Ballista.
- Or loop Magda’s sac-5 ability with infinite Treasures to drag Portal to Phyrexia / Hellkite Tyrant / Terror of the Peaks onto the battlefield.
Backup/value engines. Storm-Kiln Artist + rituals/Wheel/Underworld Breach for storm-y Treasure bursts; Goblin Welder / Feldon-free artifact recursion; Dragon top-end (Goldspan, Ancient Copper, Terror of the Peaks) cheated in via Magda as a fair-but-fast plan B. Karn, the Great Creator is a stax anchor (opponents’ artifact abilities shut off) rather than a tutor here (no sideboard in EDH).
Protection & disruption. Deflecting Swat, Fury (free), Pyrokinesis (free), Pyroblast + Red Elemental Blast + Boil for the blue-dense field, Defense Grid on the combo turn, Chaos Warp / Abrade / Vandalblast / Blasphemous Act for boards and rocks, and Soul-Guide Lantern + Tormod’s Crypt for the graveyard hole (Breach/Thoracle/reanimator). Pithing Needle is a Magda-fetchable silver bullet.
