Gishath, Sun's Avatar

At a glance

  • Format: Brawl (100-card)
  • Commander: Gishath, Sun’s Avatar
  • Colors: Red / Green / White (RGW)
  • Archetype: Naya Dinosaurs ramp/stompy (budget)
  • Power tier: competitive
  • Competitive Brawl: ✅ Legal

Strategy

Same gameplan as the power build, done with commons and uncommons: ramp hard on green dorks (Llanowar Elves, Elvish Mystic, Ilysian Caryatid, Paradise Druid, Druid of the Anima) plus Cultivate and Migration Path so Gishath lands turn 4-5, then swing to flip free Dinosaurs off the top. Otepec Huntmaster and Rhythm of the Wild give the fatties haste (and dodge counters) so a connect matters the turn Gishath arrives. The enrage core (Raptor Hatchling, Ranging Raptors, Frilled Deathspitter, Sun-Crowned Hunters, Bellowing Aegisaur) turns your own bite spells and Forerunner of the Empire pings into free value, while Colossal Majesty, Garruk’s Uprising, and Elemental Bond refill the hand. Overcome and Goring Ceratops close games when the board’s wide, and cheap removal (Swords, bolts, fight spells) keeps blockers off the ground until the dinos take over.

Upgrade path

This is the playable-now build: the only rare/mythic craft is the commander itself (Gishath, Sun’s Avatar, currently unowned) — everything else is owned or a common/uncommon you can craft freely. It swaps the ideal’s unaffordable payoffs for in-role budget pieces: the Marauding Raptor + Polyraptor combo and premium exile suite (Path, Get Lost, Prismatic Ending, Leyline Binding, Skyclave) are cut for cheap burn and fight removal; The Great Henge / Craterhoof / Zacama / the Etalis / Ghalta / Trapjaw top-end becomes a fat wall of uncommon and common Dinosaurs (Charging Monstrosaur, Raging Swordtooth, Crested Herdcaller, Annoyed Altisaur, Belligerent Brontodon, Titanoth Rex) that Gishath is just as happy to cheat in. Upgrade path toward the ideal: craft the removal suite and marquee mythic dinos (Great Henge, Craterhoof, Xenagos, Regisaur Alpha, Ghalta, both Etalis, Pantlaza) as wildcards allow.
